3 parts to the doctrine of sanctification

Words, Holy, saint, sanctity, sanctified

From the root word hagios ie., separate or to separate or separate to.

Positional Sanctification

 (at salvation)

We are seperated to God by God, for Himself. God has literally separated born again believers apart for Himself. We are His and His alone in position

1 Cor 1:2

Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

1 Cor 6:11

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Practical Sanctification (present)

We are to separate ourselves to God in obedience to Him and for His good pleasure

1Pe 1:15  But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

1Pe 1:16  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Perfect sanctification (future)

As God’s child He will set apart sin and sin nature from us as we cannot come into His presence the way that we are. So when we see Him we will be changed in an instant and no more have the sin nature to have or want to have in eternity with Him.

1Co 15:51  Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

1Co 15:52  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1Jn 3:2  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
