SUBJECT:
Biblical Prophecy & Dispensationalism

Why attend the conference on Dispensationalism and Prophecy?

Allow me to ask pose this scenario as you consider attending this fall conference.

If a friend might ask you if we should have state churches today? As Germany, Norway, Italy have today? What would you say? Should we have church armies today? Why not? As there were during the European Reformation. Should we have religious cities? Such as Jerusalem, Rome. There were religious cities in the Old Testament. Should these practices be implemented today?  Why not? Dispensationalism speaks to these issues? If  you are not sure how to answer these important questions, then you might consider attending the fall conference.

What is dispensationalism? In short, Dispensationalism shows Christ to be the center of God’s program for the ages and the object of worship for eternity.  Dispensationalism shows the failure of man,  the mercy of God, and the glory of Christ as both a Savior and King. Dispensationalism has proven itself to be a stimulus for evangelism, and world missions, sound principles for Bible interpretation, the importance of prophecy, the centrality of Christ.

SCHEDULE

Friday

7:00 – 8:00 pm: Session 1

What is Dispensationalism?
Dispensationalism is the result of applying the literal and grammatical principle of Bible interpretation. It places Christ first, unfolds God’s working through the ages of Scripture. It is important for every believer to know something about dispensationalism. Without dispensationalism it is impossible to understand the Bible clearly.

Saturday

2:00 – 3:00 pm: Session 2

History of Dispensationalism?

The roots of dispensationalism are found in the Old and New Testament Scriptures. Moreover, dispensationalism is found in every age of church history. Scholars and Bible teachers such as Isaac Watts, J.N. Darby, D. L Moody, and many others taught dispensationalism. It is the foundation for spiritual revival, missionary work, establishment of Bible institutes, and many evangelistic ministries.

Pinnacle of the Ages

Christ is the center of the ages, all past ages look forward to Christ’s death and all future ages will look back to his death. The Scripture teaches that his death is the consummation of the ages. His death is the most important event of human history.

Imminent Return of Christ – Rapture

The Bible teaches the any moment return of the Lord Jesus Christ to rapture or “catch up” his church to be with Christ in heaven for ever. There are no preceding events that need to occur before the Lord comes again. The Bible describes this event as the “Blessed Hope” and that it will happen in the “twinkling of an eye.” Christians are exhorted to be ready for this event.

Will the Church Go Through the Tribulation Period?

The tribulation period is a time when God will pour out the wrath of God upon the earth. Christians will not go through the tribulation period, for many reasons. Chiefly, because Christ bore all the punishment or wrath of God on the cross for each believer past, present, and future. A Christian should never fear judgment for his sins. Romans 8:1 reads, “There is therefore now, no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.”

Israel – Replacement Theology

The unbiblical doctrine of Replacement Theology teaches that Christ is finished with the nation of Israel. Why should we reject this teaching. Firstly, because of the many great “everlasting” promises God has made in the Old Testament to the nation of Israel. In the New Testament Paul asks, “Has God cast away his people?” The this important rhetorical question he answers, “God forbid.”

 Revelation 20 & the Millennium

In the first six verses of Revelation chapter 20 we read the word “one thousand years” referring to the earthly reign of Christ. In addition, many Old Testament passages teach Christ will reign as king upon the earth. Revelation 20 is a watershed passage explaining the importance and the prophetic timing of this reign of Christ upon the earth.  This is an important passage of Scripture Christians should study.
